Together we’ll explore the most impactful local, national, and international pressure campaigns happening across the world and discover how you can bring effective strategies back to your own hometown. You’ll learn from seasoned organizers, build meaningful relationships with other dedicated activists, and gain the skills and confidence to take action for animals. At the Grassroots Animal Rights Summit, you’ll learn from inspiring speakers whose experience ranges from community organizing to strategic corporate and legislative advocacy. Our workshops will dive deep into the most effective tools for building local power—everything from volunteer mobilization to research, communications, and campaign planning. Each session is designed to be practical, interactive, and grounded in real-world successes from grassroots groups across the country. You’ll leave energized with new skills, new connections, and a clear path to making meaningful change for animals in your community.

WHO?
The Grassroots Animal Rights Summit is organized by a diverse coalition of grassroots organizations including Animal Activism Collective (AAC), the Coalition to Abolish the Fur Trade (CAFT), and the International Council for Animal Welfare (ICAW).
Our speakers include many of the most experienced grassroots activists in our movement working on a broad range of important issues.
Our programming is designed for both brand new and seasoned activists. Whether this is your first animal rights event or you’ve been to hundreds of protests, there will be valuable learning experiences in every session.
WHY?
The Summit aims to strengthen and connect the growing network of grassroots animal activists, providing a shared space to learn effective strategies and gain support from peers.
Its goals are to equip attendees with practical skills that empower you to run impactful, community-based animal rights campaigns.
At its core, the Summit’s mission is to build a more coordinated, informed, and energized grassroots movement capable of advancing meaningful change for animals now and into the future.
WHEN & WHERE?
The Grassroots Animal Rights Summit will take place on May 15, 16, and 17.
Our venue is Studio Theatre, 1501 14th Street NW, Washington, DC 20005.
The Summit will also include street actions at key campaign target locations within walking, public transit, or short driving distance from the venue.
